Graduated in Political Science, she was deputy for Bizkaia in the Congress of Deputies (2015-2019) where she worked on issues related to energy, climate change, industry, economy and science. Her work and thinking on ecological transition always take into account the economic, social and cultural impacts that must be addressed from social justice, quality of life and gender equality.

Alvaro Campos

Professor of Energy Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU)

Researcher and Associate Professor at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. PhD in Thermal Engineering, developing his research in topics related to energy efficiency, thermal storage and renewable energies. He has published numerous articles and participated in national and international research projects. He combines his research activity with activism in the field of just energy transition, decentralized systems and energy cooperatives

Alicia Valero

Industrial Ecology Research Director at CIRCE Institute.

Professor at the University of Zaragoza, she is the head of the Industrial Ecology area at the Joint University Research Institute 'Research Center for Energy Resources and Consumption (CIRCE)'. Her research activity has focused on the search for efficiency solutions in the use of resources and the application of thermodynamics to evaluate the Earth's mineral capital. She has received numerous international awards and has participated in some thirty national and international projects related to the study and optimization of energy and materials. Her publications include her co-authored books dedicated to the concept of Thanatia.

Marco Armiero is Director of the Environmental Humanities Laboratory at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He is also the director of the European Association of Environmental History. He is the author of Wasteocene: Stories fom the Global Dump (2021), A Rugged Nation. Mountains and the Making of Modern Italy (2011) and co-editor of several volumes: A History of Environmentalism. Local Struggles, Global Histories (2014); An Environmental history of mass migration (2017); Future Remains. A cabinet of curiosities for the Anthropocene (2017); and Nature and History in Modern Italy (2010).

Alberto Matarán

Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Granada.

Alberto Mataràn Ruiz is BsC and PhD in Environmental Science at the University of Granada, Spain, and MsC Waste Management at the University of Central Lancashire, UK. Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Granada. Visiting scholar in different international universities and professor in several postgraduate programs including Urban and Regional Planning, Agroecology, Environmental History and International Cooperation. His research interest is centred on local self-sustainability including the importance of periurban areas and local food systems. According to this his methodological approach is based on an agroecological and decolonial perspective and considers the importance of participation for the transition processes in Europe and Latin America.

Juan Infante

Professor of Geography, History and Philosophy at Universidad Pablo de Olavide // Researcher in the Laboratory of History of Agro-ecosystems

Professor in the Department of Geography, History and Philosophy at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide and researcher in the Laboratory of History of Agro-ecosystems at the same university. His research focuses on the study of the history of agriculture and the environment in the contemporary world, trying to understand the main changes occurred in the industrial transition from a biophysical point of view and how to learn from them to face the future. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society for Agricultural History.

Lydia Kallipoliti

Lydia Kallipoliti is an architect, engineer and scholar. Her research focuses on the intersections of architecture, technology and environmental politics and more particularly on recycling material experiments, theories of waste and reuse, as well as closed and self-reliant systems and urban environments. Kallipoliti is the author of the online book History of Ecological Design for Oxford English Encyclopedia of Environmental Science (2017), the editor of “EcoRedux”—a special issue of Architectural Design magazine (AD, 2011)—and the author of the book The Architecture of Closed Worlds, Or, What is the Power of Shit (Lars Muller Publishers/Storefront for Art and Architecture, 2018)

Jennifer Gabrys

Chair in Media, Culture and Environment in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge

Jennifer is Chair in Media, Culture and Environment in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge. She leads the Planetary Praxis research group and is Principal Investigator on the ERC-funded project, Smart Forests: Transforming Environments into Social-Political Technologies, which launched the research platform Smart Forests Atlas in 2022. She also leads the Citizen Sense and AirKit projects, which investigate the use of environmental sensors for new modes of citizen involvement in environmental issues. Both of these projects have received funding from the European Research Council.
